Earlier this year, in February, I wandered through the ancient stillness of Meares Island, a place where the trees speak in centuries and the moss hangs like old stories. It’s wild, humbling, and completely unforgettable.
The first roll is an ORWO 100 shot at 400; the second one is a Kodak TMAX 400 pushed to 800. Both developed in Arista liquid developer. Moody, rich, and just the right amount of grain, fitting for a forest full of texture and contrast.
Meares gave me more than just images. It gave me breath, pause, and perspective. It reminded me why I fell in love with film photography and in the first place and why I love to spend as much as I can admiring nature.
So here are these images from the quiet grind, the soft light, and the click of a shutter that feels like coming home.
Let’s call this a self exploration connecting with ancient trees.
I’ve got rolls to share and stories to tell.
And feels just like the beginning.
