For those who liked the first photo, you must know that it's now the featured cover image across all Miwkmaid streams. Miwkmaid is a remarkable Canadian musician, is celebrated for her distinctively eclectic style.
Capturing the essence of her music required a deep dive into her mind, I have to say, what a fantastic, wild place! She's an artist of exceptional talent and dedication, known for her dynamic personality.
It was one of the most exciting challenges to get into this journey to visually translate her unique vision and the entire process was thrilling and immensely gratifying. We achieved a harmonious blend of aesthetics and eccentricity that reflects her artistic spirit.

The Genesis of a Creative Alliance
My initial project with her dates back to 2017, crafting a video that unfolds the tale of a unique character. This character, plagued by a peculiar curse, unintentionally, ignites everything into ashes with a mere touch.
She wanders different worlds in a quest to find something that remains unharmed by her fiery touch. Her journey seems futile until, one day walking hopeless in a cemetery, a lost soul from a grave offers her his flowers, surprisingly, this item resists her flames! Overwhelmed with gratitude, she takes the flowers to her soul mate. When she arrives to see him, he holds it, but their emotion cannot be contained anymore and they both ignite, vanishing together.
This was a kind of romantic story with its own particularities, a story written by Miwkmaid for her song “I set Fires”.

Embracing Nature: The Outdoors as Our Studio
Several of the shooting locations were handpicked by her, as she had a clear vision of what she wanted to achieve. Meanwhile, I contributed by suggesting places that closely matched the descriptions she provided, ensuring that the settings were just right. For this initial project, we ended up filming in a mix of locations. Some scenes were captured in Sparwood, which added a unique backdrop to our work. Other parts of the shoot took place in Fernie, a location chosen for its known landscapes and which perfectly aligned with the project's creative direction. This blend of her ideas and my suggestions came together pretty well, creating a great visual narrative for the project.

Urban Beats: Capturing Calgary's Pulse
A few years later, we dived into an urban photoshoot adventure in Calgary. Both of us definitely fine-tuned our styles, and I was stoked to bring her vision to life. Let me tell you, it was an absolute blast!
We even got kicked out from a downtown spot - more than once, actually. It added a cheeky, rebellious twist to the whole experience. It felt like being a bit naughty, right? I mean, since when is snapping photos in public off-limits?
This shooting was epic, pushing boundaries and just having fun with it.
